75% of Salesforce Admins Are Getting AI-Certified – Here’s Why

By Christine Marshall

AI is no longer just a buzzword in the Salesforce ecosystem. It’s becoming part of our daily reality as administrators. From helping with automation to analyzing data, artificial intelligence is starting to touch nearly every part of the platform. It’s no surprise that a growing number of admins are not just using AI, but actively investing in AI certifications to keep up.

According to our latest Salesforce Administrator Survey, 75.4% of admins have either taken a Salesforce AI certification or plan to do so soon. It’s a huge shift and one that reflects both the opportunities and challenges that AI brings. Whether you’re already experimenting with AI tools or just trying to figure out where to start, there’s never been a better time to lean into learning.

AI Is Already Part of the Admin Workflow

More than 71% of admins reported using AI either regularly or occasionally. For those already using it, 62.3% say it’s making them more productive. The top benefits? Helping write formulas, improving efficiency, and reducing time spent on repetitive tasks. AI is quickly becoming a practical, everyday tool that supports admin workflows rather than replacing them.

If you’ve ever used tools like ChatGPT or Einstein Formula Builder, you’ve likely seen the benefits. But knowing how to use AI well is another story. Many admins still feel unsure of where to start or how to get the most from these tools.

AI Barriers Are Real, But So Is the Opportunity

Not everything about AI adoption is smooth sailing. Nearly a quarter of admins cited a lack of skills and knowledge as the top barrier to successfully using AI in Salesforce.

On top of that, just 41.8% of respondents felt that Salesforce’s Einstein Trust Layer fully addressed their security concerns. These concerns are valid and highlight the need for better training, clearer documentation, and more admin-friendly resources.

Still, admins are not shying away from the challenge. The surge in AI certifications shows that we are ready to grow. And with Salesforce continuing to roll out AI-driven features like Agentforce, admins will need to stay ahead of the curve to make the most of what the platform offers.

The Admin Role Is Changing

The role of the Salesforce Admin is evolving. We’re no longer just managing user access or building dashboards. We’re expected to understand automation, integrations, DevOps, and now, AI. It’s a lot, and it’s happening fast. But it also means there is more opportunity than ever to step into a strategic role and influence how technology supports the business.

76.2% of respondents state that their main incentive for taking an AI certification is to learn skills needed for their current role (and not simply because AI certifications are currently free!).

AI will not replace admins. What it will do is amplify the value we bring – if we’re prepared. That’s why certification matters. It signals that you’re not just keeping up with change, you’re embracing it. And in a time when companies are hungry for efficiency and innovation, that’s a powerful message.

How to Prepare

If you’re planning on upskilling in AI or taking the Salesforce Agentforce Specialist certification, there are plenty of resources to help you.

  2. Salesforce Agentforce Specialist Certification: The Salesforce Agentforce Specialist certification is a deep-dive style certification into generative AI and its usage within Salesforce. Candidates will be expected to configure and apply Agentforce tools in Salesforce, including testing and deployment from a sandbox.

Summary
