Salesforce Flow RPA: Quick Overview

By Lucy Mazalon

Salesforce Flow is the future of automation across the Salesforce platform – innovations such as Flow RPA will empower low-code Salesforce “builders” (like Salesforce Admins) even more.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) automates repetitive, manual tasks such as data entry. Personally, I describe the concept as virtual bots working in the background of applications.MuleSoft RPA supplies RPA for the Salesforce platform, thanks to the Servicetrace acquisition from August 2021.

What is Salesforce Flow RPA?

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology will be integrated into Flow. Bots are created using MuleSoft RPA – bots that replace repetitive tasks for any system or application, including PDF documents, spreadsheets, and even disconnected legacy systems.

RPA differs from, say, CRM automation, as it is used to emulate humans. RPA software is designed to interact with a system in the same way a human would, but automates high-volume, repetitive tasks.

Salesforce recognizes that Flow will play a major role in empowering low-code individuals while alleviating developer workload.

Final Thoughts

Flow RPA was announced at the Trailblazer ’22 event and is expected to be made available in the second half of 2022. Other Flow innovations, such as Flow Integration (MuleSoft + Flow), were unveiled during the event, and will also support organizations in working towards making this vision a reality – a better developer experience and smoother collaboration between low-code and pro-code Salesforce professionals.

What you’ve read so far only scrapes the surface – stay tuned for more in the coming months.
