Should You Get Anthropic Certified as a Salesforce Professional?

You may have heard about Anthropic’s relatively new certification program, but not be sure exactly what it looks like. That, or you may be curious if there’s actual value in it for Salesforce professionals. 

This article will explore the Anthropic certification program, its benefits to Salesforce professionals, and whether it’s worth your time or not. Notably, the answer will differ from person to person, depending on your current employment situation and career goals.

What Is the Anthropic Certification Program?

Anthropic launched its first official certification into their new certification program in March 2026: Claude Certified Architect – Foundations. The intent behind this certification was to give professionals the ability to show off their knowledge of Claude using an official, standardized test. It was Anthropic’s first foray into the world of certifications, and overall, it seemed to land well with the community. 

By July, Anthropic had announced a further three certifications, bringing the total to four. This included two more Foundations certifications (Claude Certified Associate – Foundations, and Claude Certified Developer – Foundations), as well as a next step up for architects in the Claude Certified Architect – Professional certification. Once again, these are designed to test the knowledge of each of these roles and provide evidence of that knowledge in the form of the certification. 

Anthropic also offers certification preparation courses, which are built to help ensure you’re across all the key topics and information that you’ll be tested on. These are a fantastic way to become exposed to features and concepts that you may not have come across to date. 

Comparing Anthropic’s Program to Salesforce’s

If you’re reading the above section and thinking that it sounds familiar, that’s because it is! Salesforce’s own certification program has been in place for almost two decades now, having been introduced in 2008 with what was then called the ADM201 Admin Essentials certification. They also offer training in the form of a Trailhead Trailmix, and paid additional training for those who want to dive deeper. 

Additionally, Salesforce’s certification program started with a single certification and grew over time. Today, there are close to 50 different Salesforce certifications available, not including the Accredited Professional (AP) certifications.

Once you’ve achieved a Salesforce certification, you’ll need to maintain it. This is done by completing a module inside Trailhead to keep your credentials valid. Anthropic has a similar approach, with each credential being valid for 12 months before requiring the holder to complete a non-proctored, free exam.

The biggest difference between the two programs is that Salesforce’s certifications are open to anyone, whereas Anthropic’s are currently only available to employees of official Anthropic partners. The process of becoming an Anthropic partner is relatively simple, and there is currently no minimum business size requirement. That being said, it requires a properly set-up business, and email addresses must have a business domain (no @gmail.com or @icloud.com emails). 

Assessing the Value of Anthropic Certification for Salesforce Professionals

The question that many Salesforce professionals have been asking is whether or not pursuing Anthropic certification is going to be beneficial to their careers in Salesforce. As someone who has recently completed the Claude Certified Associate – Foundations certification, my answer is a resounding yes. For no other reason than the fact that preparing for it encouraged me to learn more about what Anthropic’s Claude is capable of, and learning how I can expand its capabilities to work in my Salesforce workflows. 

In preparing for the certification, you’ll learn what Claude can do and how it should be used. Not only does the study touch on what Claude can do in terms of Connectors, Skills, context management, and more, but it also gives you a good idea of how you should use each feature.

Contextualizing the AI of the Future 

There’s absolutely no denying that the tech world is embracing AI at a rapid pace, and few companies have been as vocal about it as Salesforce. We’ve talked at length about how Salesforce could simply rebrand to Agentforce, whether or not Anthropic could acquire Salesforce, and how Claude is an extremely powerful tool for Salesforce professionals. The recent drops from the Anthropic/Salesforce partnership (namely Claude Tag, Slack Code, and most recently Claudeforce) show that Salesforce is drawing particularly near to a single AI vendor. 

Claudeforce in particular highlights just how strongly Salesforce believes in Anthropic’s technology. Whether you think Salesforce is good at building AI and agent technology or not, Claudeforce is one of the only Salesforce products on another platform that has taken the iconic “force” signature. 

At this point, it doesn’t really matter if Anthropic acquires Salesforce or Salesforce just learns to be an enterprise AI layer, relying on models like Claude – at least for now, the future has already been decided. 

For all of the above reasons, we strongly believe that pursuing an Anthropic certification would be a beneficial move for your Salesforce career. The future direction of the company is clear, and becoming familiar with Anthropic’s offerings is, at the very least, a safe bet.

Is an Anthropic Certification Worth More Than a Salesforce Certification?

Now we’re getting to a much more meaty question: is an Anthropic certification more beneficial than a Salesforce certification? The short answer is a simple no, but a more complex answer is that you’re asking the wrong question. 

The reason for the no is simple: you’re working in the Salesforce space primarily, not the Anthropic space. Your Salesforce certifications are your ticket into the Salesforce ecosystem and are a way to prove your knowledge of the platform that you spend a majority of your time working on. Any Anthropic certification is a cherry on top and shows you’re willing to adopt new technologies that are going to have a positive impact on how you work with Salesforce. 

Salesforce certifications are required for new roles that you wish to step into. Studying them exposes you to new features in tools that you may not have used before, giving you a better understanding of the Salesforce ecosystem as a whole. These are a staple for your Salesforce career.

We’ve been emphasising for at least the last year how important it is to have full tech stack knowledge as a Salesforce professional, especially if you’re dabbling with AI. In our latest Salesforce Architect survey, 45.1% of respondents said that almost half of their time is spent using external technologies, and shifting job requirements will likely continue to demand multi-platform transferable tech skills. 

On the other hand, Anthropic certifications are an optional extra that show you’re capable with bleeding-edge AI technology. You have certified your skills in a crowded market of Salesforce professionals fighting over the same roles, and you’re showing that you’re willing to learn quickly. These certifications are not a requirement for a Salesforce career, but they’re a great way to stand out and challenge yourself.

Who Should and Shouldn’t Consider Anthropic Certification?

If you’re someone who’s either working directly with Agentforce, or you’re hoping or planning to in the future, then you should consider getting Anthropic certified. While they are different technologies (at least, for now), they both fall under the umbrella. The concepts you’ll learn while studying for an Anthropic certification will directly translate to any work you do with Agentforce, especially in terms of privacy and security best practices.

In addition, if you’re someone who is looking at optimizing how you build and work in Salesforce, then you should consider getting Anthropic certified. The tools that Anthropic offers are going to save you countless hours of work in the long run, if you know how to use them. 

Similarly, if you’re a consultant who is already strung thin just trying to keep up with all the new features across the Salesforce platform, then you should consider leveraging Claude to handle some of the more repetitive tasks that you do on a daily basis.

Not only that, if you’re someone in the Salesforce ecosystem looking to land an in-demand Salesforce role either for the first time or as a next destination, then this will demonstrate to employers that you are on the ball with Salesforce’s latest AI moves and can go on to apply this knowledge to real-life scenarios. 

Now for those who shouldn’t consider getting Anthropic certified. If you’re not part of an organization that is an Anthropic partner, then you’re unfortunately locked out. As I mentioned earlier, the Anthropic certification program is currently only available to partners. 

Those who are still struggling to find their way around the Salesforce platform should also consider putting their time directly into learning Salesforce, and delaying the Anthropic certification. If you’re not across the basics of Salesforce, then you’re not in a great position to leverage Claude in your day-to-day as it is. Focusing on Anthropic certification would slow that growth down even further.
