Create Your New Pardot Home Page – Featuring B2B Marketing Analytics

Did you know you can make your own custom Home page within the Pardot Lightning App? Since the Pardot Lightning App is actually a Salesforce Lightning App, you’ll have the same flexibility to make customizations in the way you would on any other Salesforce app. If you haven’t enabled the Pardot Lightning app yet, this might be the reason to take the plunge!

Pardot users log in they’ll have a shiny new Home page that shows them the metrics they need to quickly make data-driven decisions. Let’s see which components you have available at your fingertips, and how to create a custom Home page you love.

Why Create a Custom Pardot Home Page?

  • When Pardot users log in they’ll see the metrics they need to quickly make data-driven decisions.
  • Display reports and dashboards from both Salesforce and B2BMA*. When you’ve got data and reports in both places, this makes it so much easier to quickly access information without having to toggle between apps.
  • Once your page is created you can add it to the tab within your Pardot Lightning app.
  • Lightning pages allow you to design pages for your desktop Salesforce Lightning Experience or mobile app.
  • You can create different Home pages for different Salesforce profiles which allows you to show different data to different users, making the information relevant to the viewer. You can show your business development reps quarterly summaries and show your marketing managers’ conversion rates.

*B2BMA comes with four convenient dashboards out of the box that you can add to this page (we’ll go through these four dashboards later). You do also have the ability to add your own custom B2BMA dashboards.

Lightning Components – A Quick Overview

To create a custom Pardot Home page, you’ll need to make sure you’ve already enabled the Pardot Lightning App. Then you’ll build a custom Lightning page using the components available with the Salesforce App Builder. You’ll be able to add the following Lightning components to your page, using drag and drop:

Standard Components: There are approximately 30 standard Lightning components you can add to your Home page (see a detailed list on this help article) For our example, we’ll primarily be using the reports and dashboards from both Salesforce and B2BMA.

Custom Components: If someone on your team has created a custom component, you’ll have the ability to include it on your new Pardot Home page with the Lighting App builder.

Third-Party Components from the AppExchange: The AppExchange is a great place to find other packages for your Salesforce instance, many of them already have pre-configured components to add to your Lightning pages.

Creating a New Pardot Lightning Home Page

There are a few ways you can create a new Lightning home page:

  1. Create it from scratch using a template
  2. Clone it from another custom Home page
  3. Edit a page from the Home tab in a Lightning app.

For this example, we are going to clone and edit the Home tab in the Lighting App.

1. Clone the Home Page

1. Log into Salesforce, and navigate to the setup screen. Then search for ‘Lightning App Builder’.

2. Locate your Home Page in the list and select ‘clone’.

3. The Lightning App Builder will launch with a clone of your Home page. Be sure to change the name on the right-hand side so you can easily recognize it if you need to come back to it through the setup.

2. Customize the Home Page Using the Lightning App Builder

Now that you’ve set up your new Pardot Home page, in the Lightning App Builder, it’s time to customize your page. Your screen should look similar to the below.

On the left-hand side, you’ll see a list of Lightning components you can drag over to your new Home page. The middle section is your page, and the right section gives you the ability to further customize the components on your page with options such as height and filters. You’ll notice that when you add them to the page, they may not fit just right, so you’ll want to toggle over to the right and adjust the height.

3. Adding Components from B2BMA

If you’re using B2BMA, you can add your dashboards from B2BMA to the Home page. You have the same filtering options as you do in B2BMA.

As a reminder the following 4 dashboards come out of the box, and are ready and available immediately to add to your Pardot Home page:

  • Engagement
  • Marketing Manager
  • Pipeline
  • Account-Based-Marketing

To add B2BMA dashboards to your Pardot Home page, drag the *Einstein Analytics Dashboard component*, from the left-hand side to one of the regions on the page, then select the dashboard you want to display from the menu on the right-hand side.
In the example below, I’ve added the Engagement Dashboard to the page. In order to extend the view of the dashboard, I’ve adjusted the height to 600.

4. Adding Other Components for Sales and Marketing Users – Some Ideas!

There are a variety of components you can add to the page, so take a look at all of your options in order to create the most useful page for your users. If you plan to create custom pages for different profiles, have a conversation with those teams to find out what information is most relevant to them.

If they can log in to Pardot and see the most relevant information, it is sure to help drive user adoption of the platform. With so many standard components, I am just going to name a few that I often refer to when creating a Pardot Home page.

Reports & Dashboards from Salesforce

To add Salesforce reports drag over the Report Chart component and select your report. To add a Salesforce Dashboard you can drag over the Dashboard component and select your Dashboard.

Todays Tasks

This component will display the next 5 tasks due that day, users can select the view all and will be directed to their task tab. If you’re a Pardot user and creating tasks for your Sales team from Pardot automation, adding this component to your SDR/BDR/pre-sales person will help them know what leads they need to follow up with next.

Today’s Events

The events component shows the next 5 meetings on your calendar for the day. This is great to help any user, whether sales or marketing quickly see what events they have and prepare for the day.

Campaign Marketplace

This component is really helpful especially if you are consistently using Salesforce campaigns. You can show campaign information, such as a campaign currently running, with the number of leads, so your users can quickly see what’s running and what’s showing success.

5. Save & Activate Your Page

When you’re done setting up your page, make sure you save it – then, be sure you *activate* the page. If not your users won’t be able to see it.

Note: if you’ve created different pages for different profiles you can skip step 2 and go straight to 3, where you can assign the page to the Pardot App and the specific profile.

1. Click the ‘Activate’ button on the top right of the page and the screen below will pop-up

2. You likely want to make this a Pardot App default only, so select the ‘App Default’ tab. Then select the ‘Assign to Apps’ button, select your Pardot App, and then select the ‘Save’ button.

3. If you want to assign this to the Pardot App and select profiles, click on the ‘App and Profile’ tab and you’ll be able to assign this page to the Pardot App as well as specific roles. So if you’ve created a page for your marketing users and another page for your sales users, you can quickly save them here for different profiles.

Creating a custom Pardot Home page for your users is a really great way to save them time by serving them the information that they need, rather than one generic dashboard for all users. It also helps to display information from Salesforce and B2BMA in one place so your users aren’t wasting time toggling back and forth looking for information. There are so many different components you can add to your page to help your users get the information that they need.
