Salesforce Professional Edition, a mid-tier licence plan offered by the CRM, has quietly reached its end-of-sale (EOS), SF Ben has learned.
The plan, which has served growing businesses for between $75-$80 per user per month, was sunsetted last year, intended to be replaced by the latest versions of Starter and Pro Suite. Existing customers are not affected.
The End of Professional Edition
Salesforce has now confirmed that Professional Edition has reached EOS, but it is unclear as to exactly when it happened. However, SF Ben has been told that the change occurred last year, at approximately the same time new plans were announced – likely Free Suite, in November.
Professional Edition is no longer available for new customers, but Salesforce has also confirmed that existing customers are not affected by this change, as the product is EOS, not end-of-life (EOL).
Mounting Confusion
Uncertainty surrounding the status of this edition came to a head when a small business user took to Reddit at the end of April this year. They claimed that their account executive said their Salesforce instance was “flagged by compliance” for being Professional Edition, and that they needed to upgrade before the end of the month to avoid losing access.
The account executive had allegedly claimed that the user’s current edition, SKU, Sales Cloud Professional Edition, had reached EOS on April 1, 2026, with full retirement scheduled for the end of the Fiscal Year. The user was also allegedly offered limited-time Q1 incentives for renewal upgrades to make the transition smoother.
By this point, no official news of the Professional Edition’s status had been released, with the plan no longer listed on Salesforce’s official Sales or Service pricing pages, but still being referenced in Help articles.
At the time of writing, Professional Edition is not currently listed on Salesforce’s Help page of editions no longer sold, and a free trial for Professional Edition is still available. It is unclear how much longer this will be the case.
Additionally, Salesforce’s Agentforce Help Agent currently says you can purchase Professional Edition today – it is likely this will change soon.

Final Thoughts
With Professional Edition now in EOS, Salesforce has signalled that its Starter, Pro, and Free plans are the way forward for smaller businesses looking to accelerate their work with Salesforce. Agentforce is also now conveniently part of these suites, making it easier for customers to get started with some of Salesforce’s AI tools as well.
We will hopefully see clearer communication on Salesforce’s Help pages to reflect this change to Professional Edition to eliminate some of the confusion, although at present, it is unclear as to when that will be.
