Salesforce Changes AI Specialist Exam to ‘Certified Agentforce Specialist’

Salesforce has transformed its AI Specialist exam into a new ‘Certified Agentforce Specialist’ exam.

The Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist certification will be live and available for registration on March 3 at 1pm PST. Upcoming AI Specialist exams scheduled after that date will be updated to reflect the new Agentforce Specialist changes including the new exam name.

What Is the Certified Agentforce Specialist Exam?

Salesforce says the Agentforce Specialist certification is designed for people who are proficient in configuring and managing Agentforce and have a comprehensive understanding of Salesforce’s core functionalities. 

This includes tasks like setting up and managing agents, ensuring proper configuration, and using Agentforce tools to enhance business processes.

The new exam is different from the previous version in several key areas. 

The old AI Specialist exam was structured in the following way: 

• Einstein Trust Layer: 15%
• Generative AI in CRM Applications: 17%
• Prompt Builder: 37%
• Agentforce Tools: 23%
• Model Builder: 8%

The new exam is structured like this: 

• Prompt Engineering: 30%
• Agentforce Concepts: 30%
• Agentforce and Data Cloud: 20%
• Agentforce and Service Cloud: 10%
• Agentforce and Sales Cloud: 10%

Salesforce stresses that this is not just “AI Specialist with a new name”. 

They wrote on Trailhead: “In addition to the name change, the exam objectives have also been updated to place a stronger focus on Agentforce content. 70% of this new, updated exam directly addresses Agentforce, with the remaining 30% dedicated to Prompt Engineering, which remains an equally important topic. Additionally, nearly half of the exam questions will align to the new Agentforce objectives.”

What if I Already Had an Upcoming AI Specialist Exam? 

If you already have an upcoming AI Specialist registration, your experience will differ depending on your exam scheduled date.

If it is scheduled before March 3, there will be no changes to the exam content. If it is scheduled on or after March 3, you will take the updated Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist exam.

The Agentforce Specialist certification exam is available for free as part of the AI for All initiative.

There is a $100 USD retake fee for the Agentforce Specialist exam

What if I Already Have the AI Specialist Credential? 

If you have already earned your AI Specialist credential, you do not need to take the Agentforce Specialist version, Salesforce says. 

Your AI Specialist credential will be updated to Agentforce Specialist on March 3, 2025, and you will get an email with more information about the change along with details on how to download your new certified logo.

Anyone who earns the AI Specialist or Agentforce Specialist credential before August 2025 (exact date TBD) will be required to take the Agentforce Specialist Summer ’25 certification maintenance module. 

This will cover the latest Agentforce features and functionality.

Final Thoughts 

With Agentforce at the forefront of everything Salesforce, it is perhaps unsurprising that they want their product in the name of their AI exam. 

However, with the company wanting to strike up Agentforce deals with customers, it may be a win for those businesses to have an “Agentforce Specialist” on board to help with a smooth integration of the product.
