Since 2007, when Force.com (now the “Salesforce Platform”) was first released, Salesforce has been on a mission to speed up development on cloud systems. With its PaaS offering, it allows coders and declarative professionals to build complex automation using tools such as Flow and the Lightning App Builder.
Salesforce is taking a huge leap forward this year, with their vision to speed up the development of business systems even more through generative AI. With Developer GPT and Flow GPT, professionals can create powerful automation through a simple text prompt. Today, Salesforce announced the Anypoint Code Builder, allowing developers to build integrations through – you guessed it – simple text prompts.
Anypoint Code Builder
The Salesforce Anypoint platform sits within the MuleSoft offering, which speeds up the development of API integration between different platforms. MuleSoft was acquired by Salesforce for $6.5 billion back in 2018.
The Anypoint Code Builder is an integrated development environment. It includes a desktop IDE that can be locally installed within Visual Studio Code, as well as a cloud IDE that is accessible through any web browser. The desktop version of this tool is now available to all customers, whilst the cloud version is currently in beta and will be generally available in the second quarter of 2024.
In line with Salesforce’s mission to speed up development for specific verticals with their Industry Cloud, they have also created packaged solutions for healthcare, financial services, and retail. These look to provide template solutions which quickly accommodate common integration use cases for these industries, such as integrating eCommerce platforms with inventory management systems for retail.
Einstein for Anypoint Code Builder
What is possibly the most exciting announcement to come out of this press release is the ability to use natural language prompts to generate code and integration flows – a visual representation of the code and business logic to connect the systems.
As you can see below, Salesforce has added the ability for you to “Start with AI” instead of building an integration flow from scratch. The integration example Salesforce includes in the screenshot gives you an idea of what this can accomplish…
“Create a flow that syncs the phone field of account objects between a Salesforce org and a database”
Final Thoughts
Salesforce is continuing its mission to revolutionize the way Salesforce professionals build solutions on the platform. By evolving the original solution with the Force.com platform and combining it with their “Clicks not code” initiative, Salesforce has brought us something that is more akin to a J.A.R.V.I.S. style assistant from the Marvel films!
MuleSoft’s Anypoint Code Builder modernizes our core integration tooling with the power of AI and a new Visual Studio Code-based foundation. This empowers developers to build integrations and APIs faster in their preferred environment, ultimately creating new ways to reach customers, generate revenue, and build more impactful software by integrating with other relevant technologies with greater ease.
