There is no shortage of opinions about where Salesforce development is heading. AI, certifications, DevOps, technical debt, changing career paths – everyone has a view.

Rather than guessing, we want to hear directly from the people doing the work.

If you are a Salesforce Developer, we would love you to take part in our 2026 survey and help us create a report that reflects the experiences of the community itself.

“Whether you’re a developer still focused on delivering the same Apex and LWCs that you always have, or one steeped in creating custom Agentforce actions and MCPs, there is no doubt that the work of the Salesforce Developer has changed. The SF Ben Developer Survey promises to provide insight into the broad ecosystem of the Salesforce Developer community. By participating, you will help create a critical dataset for better understanding what it means to be a developer today.”

Peter Chittum, Editor-in-Chief at SF Ben

Why We’re Running This Survey

Every year, the Salesforce ecosystem changes a little more. New technologies emerge, expectations shift, and developers adapt.

This survey is our way of understanding what that looks like in practice. We are interested in hearing about:

  • The challenges you are facing in your role
  • The skills and tools you rely on most
  • How AI is changing the way you work
  • The areas where you feel most confident and where you would like to improve
  • Your approach to certifications, DevOps, and technical debt
  • Where you think Salesforce development is heading next

The goal is simple: to build a report that reflects what developers are actually experiencing today, not what people assume is happening.

What the Survey Involves

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and is divided into five short sections:

  • About You: Your background and current role
  • Knowledge and Skills: Your experience and career
  • Technical Debt: The challenges and causes behind it
  • Artificial Intelligence: How AI fits into your work
  • Tools: The technologies and platforms you use

It’s designed to be straightforward and easy to complete.

Take Part

If you work as a Salesforce Developer, we would really appreciate you taking part.

The more developers who respond, the more representative the results will be, helping us build a report that reflects the experiences of the wider Salesforce community.

Enter Our Optional Prize Draw

As a thank you for your time, you will have the option to enter a prize draw after completing the survey.

Ten participants will be selected at random to receive a $100 gift card. Winners will be contacted during the week commencing September 14, 2026.

Entering the prize draw is completely optional. Any personal details collected for this purpose will only be used to administer the draw and will never be included in the survey analysis.

What Happens With the Results

Once the survey closes, we will analyse the responses and share the findings back with the community, highlighting key trends, insights, and themes.

Our aim is to turn individual experiences into a resource that others can learn from, helping developers see how their peers are approaching the same challenges and how the role is changing over time.

Final Note

The value of this survey comes from hearing directly from developers and learning from their real experiences.

If you know other developers who might be interested, please feel free to share the survey with them. Every additional response helps us build a more complete picture of the community.

Thank you for taking the time to contribute. If you have any thoughts about the survey, we would love to hear them in the comments below.
