Salesforce Signs Agreement to Acquire Mobify

By Ben McCarthy

It’s been a while since we’ve seen some acquisition news from Salesforce but after a dry spell, they have just made their 64th acquisition to bolster their Commerce Cloud offering. It’s no surprise Salesforce are doubling down on Commerce Cloud, as the COVID-19 pandemic has seen eCommerce spend reach unprecedented heights.

I’m sure the Demandware acquisition (Now Commerce Cloud) that was Salesforce’s 3rd most expensive, it now paying dividends.

Mobify – Storefront for Headless Commerce

Mobify was founded back in 2007, and has been concentrating on helping retailers unlock more revenue by continuously improving customer experience innovation on their web storefront. It supports this by hosting your storefront, as well as secures, scales, and monitors it to reduce the risk on the operational side.

You are then free to continuously tweak your storefront to enhance the shopper experience, even throughout some of the busiest times of the year, to ensure that your customer experience is running optimally. This means that tests and experiments can be deployed quickly, without the risk of breaking your storefront.

The Acquisition

Mobify announced the acquisition late on Friday 4th September for an undisclosed amount. After running a multi-year partnership with Salesforce, the acquisition is an exciting step forward for both Salesforce & Mobify. CEO & Co-Founder, Igor Faletski had the following to say on their official blog post…

“Delivering a modern digital experience is more important than ever. The world has transitioned to a digital-first economy, and online has become the lifeline for many businesses. According to Salesforce’s Q2 Shopping Index, global digital commerce revenue in Q2 grew by an unprecedented 71% compared to the previous year. Finding success in the digital-first economy takes more than just setting up a simple online storefront. That storefront needs to have the speed, intelligence, flexibility and scalability required to help companies quickly grow and evolve to stay relevant with customers across channels.

Salesforce Commerce Cloud, connected to the world’s #1 CRM platform, empowers companies to create seamless commerce experiences for consumer shoppers (B2C) and business buyers (B2B) across all channels — mobile, social, web, and store.”
