Salesforce have just announced a new certification: Marketing Associate. Available to take now, this certification is a good way to get your foot in the door with Marketing Cloud – a notoriously intricate platform to learn.
This is a foundational certification, with a recommended experience of up to six months with Marketing Cloud Engagement (i.e. Email Studio, Journey Builder). The certification will also test your broader understanding of marketing concepts including data management, content formats, and how a marketing strategy applies to Marketing Cloud.
With no prerequisites, this is an ideal for anyone who has started to use Marketing Cloud in their day-to-day role, or anyone who is generally curious about Marketing Cloud.
This certification will complement the upcoming Marketing Cloud Growth edition release (TBC), which will include the most core parts of the Marketing Cloud platform, in a distilled way.
So, how does the Marketing Associate compare to other Marketing Cloud certifications?
- Marketing Associate: Foundational, starting out with Marketing Cloud and marketing principles.
- Marketing Cloud Email Specialist: Tests knowledge of working with Email Studio, Content Builder, and other email marketing best practices. While you may think that the “Administrator” certification would make sense to come before, Email Specialist focuses on one section – which is also the most widely utilized.
- Marketing Cloud Administrator: This certification has a broad scope of topics to learn, with an outline that covers not only platform administration but also multiple modules, including Email Studio, Contact Builder, Automation Studio, Journey Builder, analytics, and more.
- Marketing Cloud Consultant: A notably challenging certification for those who have worked with multiple Marketing Cloud orgs, and have been able to cater to complex scenarios.
- Marketing Cloud Developer: The certification for those who want to pursue a more code-based role with Marketing Cloud.
