Salesforce Acquires AI Company Convergence.ai to Advance Agentforce

By Henry Martin

Salesforce has acquired AI agent company Convergence.ai in a bid to make their own artificial intelligence suite, Agentforce, even more advanced.

The CRM giant announced today, May 15, that it had signed a definitive agreement to take over the company, which it says is recognized for “developing advanced systems that perform complex, human-like tasks in digital environments”.

What Does Convergence.ai Do?

Convergence’s technology allows AI agents to deal with dynamic interfaces and manage web-based workflows and multi-step processes by adapting to challenges like pop-ups, errors, and UI updates in real time.

Salesforce now expects the team and technology at Convergence – which is based in London, has 125,000+ users and fewer than 50 employees – to play a “central role” in furthering Agentforce and Salesforce’s broader AI roadmap, boosting innovation across deep research, task automation, and industry-specific solutions.

The CRM giant hopes this will enable its customers to deploy more adaptive, capable AI agents that boost productivity and reduce manual work.

“With deep expertise in AI agent design, autonomous task execution, and adaptive systems, Convergence’s team will strengthen Salesforce’s AI capabilities and accelerate the development of next-generation agents built for increasingly sophisticated workflows,” the company said in a statement.

Adam Evans, EVP & GM, Salesforce AI Platform, Salesforce, said: “The next wave of customer interaction and employee productivity will be driven by highly capable AI agents that can navigate the complexities of today’s digital work.

“Convergence’s innovative approach to building adaptive, intelligent agents is incredibly impressive. We are thrilled to welcome their talented team to Salesforce, and we look forward to their contributions in helping Agentforce deliver AI that truly transforms how work gets done.”

Evans added: “We’re looking towards a future where Agentforce can empower our customers with AI agents that don’t just follow instructions, but truly perceive, reason, and adapt to the complexities of modern digital workflows.

“Imagine AI assistants that can intuitively navigate ever-changing interfaces and intelligently manage intricate tasks with a new level of resilience and human-like ingenuity – that’s the kind of step-change we’re eager to explore.”

“Joining Salesforce is the Ideal Step”

Salesforce says it is looking forward to welcoming the Convergence team once the acquisition closes. This is expected to happen in the second quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

No additional details of the transaction are being disclosed at this time.

Marvin Purtorab, CEO and Co-founder, Convergence, said: “The future of business automation isn’t limited to single, scripted tasks – it lies in end-to-end, decision-driven workflows where multiple agents collaborate and hand off seamlessly.

“Our mission at Convergence is to help organizations stop viewing automation as just another tool and instead adopt it as the very way work gets done – unlocking new levels of innovation and efficiency. Joining Salesforce is the ideal step to scale that vision.”

Final Thoughts

Acquisitions can be viewed as a healthy sign, showing evidence that there’s still value to be had within the Salesforce ecosystem.

It may, of course, be unsurprising to Salesforce community veterans that it is an AI company being acquired, as the cloud giant continues its all-hands-on-deck approach to its artificial intelligence product, Agentforce, which is the intended beneficiary of this move.

Hm, I seem to recall a theory Salesforce would have a hard time monetizing Agentfarce without M&A in the space, since, Salesforce is actually light on real innovation. Well, looky here - oh and just in time for 'simple and flexible' pricing for Agentfarce.
