A Salesforce Professional’s Guide to OpenClaw 2.0 Multiplayer Support

OpenClaw has officially announced OpenClaw 2.0, which marks the first major upgrade to the platform since its monumental launch back in November of 2025 (then, ClawdBot, the open-source “do everything” agent that runs locally on your computer). Hannes Rudolph, Developer Relations and Community Manager at The OpenClaw Foundation, shared the news on the site’s official blog. 

While the new version brings many features and changes, what could it mean for Salesforce professionals? That’s something I’ll be exploring in this article. As you read, you’ll notice a trend that is playing out across the entire AI landscape. I want you to think about what this trend could mean for the future of Salesforce. 

What’s New in OpenClaw 2.0

The blog writes about OpenClaw 2.0 almost as if it were an accident – a new creation that came about simply out of necessity. It praises the 933 contributors for their work, and specifically calls out 569 first-time contributors. 

The initial major requirement that needed to be addressed was the ability to get OpenClaw off the ground quicker than ever. The initial setup is significantly faster now, with advanced configuration removed from the initiation process. In addition, the web interface has been totally overhauled, given that this is where most users interact with OpenClaw directly for the first time. These were the foundational, crucial changes that led to the rest of the new features being bundled together to create a second major version of OpenClaw.

Beyond the interface and easier setup, OpenClaw 2.0 introduces advanced new features like new secure credential management to address some security concerns, isolated app profiles in macOS, and perhaps most importantly, shared cloud sessions.

Shared cloud sessions are a fancy way of saying that OpenClaw is now on the multiplayer bandwagon, just like Claude Tag and QM by Y Combinator. This means that OpenClaw can now be used by teams in a far more effective manner, now that the context can be shared in a central location. Team members can be added to the session as required, and the agent doesn’t lose context between handoffs.

Security is now a much bigger deal in this new version of OpenClaw, which impacts all Salesforce professionals. Owners can decide whether someone can read, suggest changes, work in a draft, or participate directly during a shared session. Approvals also got a major overhaul, with a new 30-day history page in the UI where there was previously none. 

What Multiplayer Means for Salesforce Teams

While a major upgrade of a popular tool like OpenClaw is always exciting, putting it to use as Salesforce professionals is where the magic really happens. OpenClaw isn’t explicitly designed to be a tool for Salesforce professionals. However, it can certainly be leveraged for that purpose when considering all the new features. 

Obviously, this tooling is very new. I’m going to hypothesize about how it could be used by Salesforce professionals, but there’s no doubt that there are many other different use cases that I’ve not thought of. 

Benefits for Salesforce Admins

In previous versions of OpenClaw, you could set up your agent to write to an org, or not. It was a binary choice. This made governance difficult, and the default was simply to not allow write access. The new approval gates in OpenClaw 2.0 make this decision a bit more nuanced.

Similar to other tools, the agents can propose each write and have them approved one-by-one. For example, if you wanted to set up an agent to identify and merge duplicate records in complex settings, you could have your agent bring each set to you one-by-one for approval, rather than just giving it direct access to merge any that it identifies. This gives a lot more granular control over how the agent interacts with your org, rather than blanket “go wild” write access.

Approval histories are also logged and accessible through a new terminal-only listTerminalOperatorApprovals store. This ensures that any decisions can be tracked and queried when required. 

Benefits for Salesforce Developers

One of the biggest problems for any local LLM is that when your laptop shuts, so too does the work. With the ability to now move large jobs into a paired external machine, you can safely close your laptop and know that the work is continuing elsewhere. It appears as though the session can be shuffled between the gateway, an eligible paired device, or a configured cloud worker profile back and forth as required, too. 

Let’s say you’re working on a major release, but it fails during deployment. This means that the entire team needs to make themselves available to fix the critical issue so that the release can be completed. In the past, this could have meant everyone working with their own OpenClaw session to fix what they believe they can, each with their own context. 

Now, if you build a shared session, individual team members can be added to the session as required and do their part. The context is central and shared to everyone who works within it. It can even be made read-only or restricted to certain collaborators only. 

Benefits for Salesforce Architects

There’s a new per-tool toggle ability when working with an MCP connection. Instead of simply being able to enable or disable an MCP as a whole, you can now disable or enable individual tools within the MCP in a session. This gives more granular control when working with large MCP servers like Salesforce’s own. 

If you’ve got a mixed team of both junior and senior Salesforce professionals, your OpenClaw sessions can be shared with specific access levels. For example, if you wanted the ability for a junior developer to be able to make a suggestion that a senior developer can then review and approve, you can do so using the new suggestion queue. This empowers everyone to contribute, but only specific users to actually make changes. 

Summary

Again, OpenClaw is not a dedicated Salesforce tool. However, recent history has shown that this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. With AI tools assisting with more and more tasks, and given the features described above, OpenClaw 2.0 could be a big deal for your Salesforce team.
