Marc Benioff Takes a Seat at the King’s Table: UK and US Bond Strengthens

By Sasha Semjonova

At this moment in time, it wouldn’t be amiss to assume that Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff is not everyone’s favorite billionaire. But, perhaps for some, that kind of sentiment is something he shares with many of the glitzy guests that joined him around the stretching dinner table at Britain’s King Charles banquet last week.

Joining the likes of President Donald Trump, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, this meetup was not only the gathering of some of the world’s wealthiest moguls, but also the sign of strengthening trade deals and relationships between the US and UK.

A Golden Spot at The Table

On the first day of President Trump’s visit to the UK, Marc Benioff was spotted at the exclusive dinner of King Charles. He was also in suitable company, surrounded by some of the biggest names in tech, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

Evidently, this was also a dinner of making amends and new beginnings, as Australian media giant Rupert Murdoch was also in attendance, even after Mr Trump sued the Wall Street Journal’s parent company, Dow Jones, and its owner, Mr Murdoch, over claims related to Jeffrey Epstein.

The UK/US Tech Trade Deal Strengthens

Interestingly, this event took place shortly after Britain and the US struck a billion-dollar investment deal, and falls within the same kind of time frame as the announcement of Missionforce, Salesforce’s new business arm dedicated to the development of AI in the defence sector.

Final Thoughts

If he wasn’t already, Marc Benioff is now firmly in the vanguard of international diplomacy efforts, so we will likely see him more at events like this one.

However, for many, this has led to further discussions as to where Benioff stands on both the US and UK political sides, and how much that is going to impact the future moves of Salesforce.

As an Australian, I am keen to remind you that Rupert Murdoch is no longer an Australian citizen. He gave up his citizenship to become a US citizen in 1985, and we all collectively said "GOOD RIDDANCE!!"
