Salesforce Trailhead GO App Upgraded for a Customized Learning Experience

By Thomas Morgan

Earlier this month, Salesforce delivered an update to its Trailhead GO app. With a fresh reimagined “Today” page, the newest edition of the app is tailored for users who are looking for a personalized learning experience that is simple to navigate.

The majority of the ecosystem will be familiar with Trailhead and its plethora of training resources. But the app itself hasn’t received as much coverage since its release in 2019, despite how convenient it is to have on your phone. This article will explore some of the key features of the Trailhead GO app – showing you it is a must-have for any Trailblazer wishing to develop Salesforce skills on the go.

On-the-Go Learning

Naturally, having the Trailhead GO app means being able to learn more about Salesforce wherever and whenever – you are not restricted to a computer and can work through some key units on your smartphone.

The text layout is suitably compact so reading and digesting information works in the same way as the desktop version. Answering summary questions is also implemented in the app: you simply have to swipe up at the bottom of the screen to start the quiz and earn points.

One shortcoming of the module layout is the inability to complete the installation assessments, as these sorts of tasks are more suited to the browser version. If you attempt to start this on the app, you will be redirected to the browser version to complete it.

It is best to use the app for units involving quizzes and units that are shorter in length, leaving the larger tasks for when you are back at your desk.

Trailblazer Community Carousel

If you find yourself stuck on a unit or module, or feel as though you need some more clarity on a specific topic, the Trailhead GO app has a community section that allows you to connect with other members of the ecosystem who may help answer your queries – or vice versa. You can also look through other people’s questions to see if your query has already been answered.

The community tab also gives you the ability to join “Featured Groups”. These groups are dedicated to certain areas within Salesforce that might be more suitable to you, giving you the chance to connect with other users, discuss important topics, and learn from experts in a specific field.

Modules for You

The key initiative of Trailhead GO is to make the experience feel personable and tailored to you, which is well reflected in the “Recommended Learning” section on the “Today” page. By understanding what modules you have gone through so far, the app will pick out some that may be relevant to you and what you want to learn.

Here are some of the modules Trailhead GO has picked out for me based on my activity:

While the “Today” page highlights three modules to try, when selecting “View All” for me it came up with 19 different potential modules! This will likely save you a lot of time searching for new topics and help direct you in the right direction when it comes to your learning.

Summary

Trailhead GO offers a flexible learning experience that aims to give you a reliable and efficient space to complete units and modules. Despite a few shortcomings, this app is a must-have for those looking to level up quickly.

As it’s still relatively new to the market and still undergoing some changes, some of the features not yet present may likely be implemented down the line to give users a fully functional experience. Keep a close eye on its updates and make the most of what it offers today!
