New Salesforce Developer Edition Launched With Agentforce and Data Cloud

By Henry Martin

Salesforce has launched a new Developer Edition which now comes complete with Agentforce and Data Cloud.

The cloud giant says that, for the first time ever, users can now explore Salesforce’s latest AI and data technology in a dedicated environment that does not expire – as long as you keep using it.

What Is the Salesforce Developer Edition?

Salesforce Developer Edition is a free Salesforce environment that lets users make and test enterprise-quality applications. The company says Agentforce and Data Cloud are “at the heart” of the new version, which can be used to:

  • Create apps quickly with drag-and-drop tools.
  • Use clicks or code to customize and test Agentforce.
  • Ground Agentforce on structured and unstructured data.
  • Use Apex to customize and extend Agentforce.
  • Integrate with apps, websites, and third-party systems using powerful APIs.

Salesforce says that the inclusion of Agentforce and Data Cloud in this Developer Edition means users can now create and customize agents, and develop and test the agents that interact with Salesforce users, end customers, or act autonomously.

Workflows across multiple Salesforce objects and actions can also be automated, while agents can be enriched with structured and unstructured data from Data Cloud or MuleSoft APIs, the cloud giant says.

Unified profiles can also be explored and analyzed in order to understand how Data Cloud consolidates customer data from various sources.

And you can build simple segments based on sample data to target specific customer groups for personalized campaigns or offers via Data Cloud.

Salesforce says users can “discover the power of Agentforce and Data Cloud in action” with the Coral Cloud sample application – a fictional resort that leverages these two technologies, along with the Salesforce Platform, to deliver highly personalized guest experiences.

Technical resources for the enhanced Developer Edition are available at the Agentforce Developer Center and Data Cloud Developer Center. This includes blog posts, videos, podcasts, documentation, and Trailhead learning.

Salesforce encourages developers to further their skills on Trailhead, including through the “Agentblazer Champion” trail, which explores core AI concepts, and the “Agentforce for Developers” module.

The announcement is one of many to come as Trailblazer DX (TDX) takes place this week in San Francisco, California, with the main event taking place between March 5 and March 6. The event is billed by Salesforce as the “developer conference for the AI agent era”.

Final Thoughts

Agentforce is making its way into every nook and cranny of Salesforce’s product suite, with the cloud giant seemingly intent on getting as much utility as possible out of their agentic AI.

Getting Salesforce customers used to having Agentforce built into whatever applications they are using may prove to be a good strategy for furthering AI adoption.
