In a busy year for acquisitions, Gearset have announced that they have acquired code reviewer analysis platform Clayton.
As part of an expansion effort that aims to expand its offering as one of the biggest Salesforce DevOps solutions, this collaboration will hopefully bring the undisputed power of Gearset together with Clayton’s trusted and secure code analysis and configuration to transform DevOps processes going forward.
Who Are Clayton?
If you’ve not heard of Clayton before, they are a code analysis platform that has been designed specifically for Salesforce. According to their website, they describe themselves as a “developer-first solution that catches, blocks, and automatically fixes bad code, helping you build secure and well-architected Salesforce applications, fast.”
It is clear why Gearset have taken the plunge when you look into their approach to DevSecOps; they identify anti-patterns and vulnerabilities early during development and remediate recurring issues with automated code corrections. Clayton aren’t a small player in the industry either; they’ve helped find and correct thousands of vulnerabilities in some of the largest Salesforce orgs on the planet.
Gearset have already integrated with Clayton, so the development of the integration to bring the right results to their customer base is the next step.
What’s the Goal?
According to Gearset, this collaboration is in place with the aim “to help Salesforce teams increase their velocity and maintain the highest standards of quality and security, so teams can deploy with confidence and tackle technical debt head-on”.
The integration of Clayton’s technology into Gearset’s DevOps suite will enable Salesforce teams to quickly and easily build secure and well-architected applications, underscoring Gearset’s commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions that optimize the entire DevOps lifecycle, from code quality to secure deployments.
Users will be able to save time on pipeline management with efficient and secure code reviews, as well as drive consistent, team-wide standards with clean code bases.
Kevin Boyle, the CEO of Gearset, says that Clayton’s “deep expertise” perfectly aligns with Gearset’s mission to empower teams with the most robust and scalable solutions available.
“Salesforce development teams today need more than just speed — they need confidence in the quality and security of their code as they scale,” he said. “The acquisition of Clayton allows us to address this need head-on by offering our customers advanced code analysis tools that streamline the development process and improve code quality from the ground up“.
Lorenzo Frattini, founder and CEO at Clayton, shares similar thoughts.
“We are thrilled to join Gearset. They have built a fantastic DevOps platform that customers love. Together, we can make modern DevSecOps accessible to many more Salesforce teams, making it easier to build secure, well-architected applications at scale.” Lorenzo Frattini, founder and CEO at Clayton
Final Thoughts
It’s reported that in the immediate future, Clayton will continue to operate under its own brand within the Gearset suite, ensuring uninterrupted service for existing users.
The strategic acquisition is Gearset’s first, following years of rapid growth, so we will all be observing just how powerful this collaboration will be. If it is to follow the same pattern that we observed with AutoRABIT’s acquisition of CodeScan.io, then we could be witnessing the start of a very successful expansion effort.
