New AI-Powered Chatbot Writes Code & Answers Salesforce Questions

By Ben McCarthy

With every year that passes, AI continues to amaze us with its automation skills and human-like insights. Everything from voice assistants to facial recognition is powered by AI and is creeping into our lives; it’s slowly becoming ubiquitous.

This week, there has been another major development in AI: ChatGPT. Released by OpenAI, ChatGPT is a chatbot that has been trained to interact in a conversational way, admit its mistakes, and challenge incorrect premises. It also has hundreds of potential uses in the Salesforce ecosystem. Let’s take a look…

1. Business Benefits of Sales Cloud

Writing a business proposal and need a quick reminder of the benefits of using a tool like Sales Cloud? No worries! ChatGPT can consolidate this information in a matter of seconds so you can come armed to your next meeting.

2. Writing an Apex Class

If you’re getting started with Salesforce Development, you can ask ChatGPT to write examples of Apex. Here is an example of a chat dialogue between Reddit user, /smithersnz, and ChatGPT to generate an Apex Class, making it invokable, and creating a test class.

3. Apex Trigger

Looking for inspiration for a very specific use case? Check out this Apex Trigger – created for us when we asked for one on the case object that updated the account object:

4. Salesforce Admin Average Salaries

Here at Salesforce Ben, we are really pleased with our average salary guides to help you determine your worth in the Salesforce ecosystem. But we have been equally impressed with ChatGPT’s ability to quickly bring back average salaries.

5. AMPscript Generation

Starting to explore Salesforce Marketing Cloud and need some inspiration to begin coding in AMPscript? Check out this automatically generated script that can show images dynamically…

6. Creating a Salesforce Board Game

Here we can see a pretty ridiculous request from Reddit user, /smithersnz, but it does showcase the power of ChapGPT to create something out of nothing…

7. Writing a Business Proposal

Half of the battle when trying to get started writing a document, is thinking of the first few sentences to set the scene and get things kicked off. Fear no more, as ChatGPT has you covered…

8. Is Salesforce Recession Proof?

A hot topic of conversation at the moment, and one that we have covered at Salesforce Ben. But what does ChatGPT think?

Summary

This week, ChatGPT has taken the internet by storm, and I’m sure we are only seeing the start of the potential power tools like these will wield.

Whilst all the answers to the questions we’ve provided in this post seem completely coherent, it’s important to understand that this tool is not 100% accurate. So whilst it can be very helpful to point you in the right direction and answer questions quickly (faster than it would take you to research on Google), it’s best to also do your own research.

Have fun using the tool. I’ll leave you with this beautiful poem written especially for me by ChatGPT…

The cloud was dark and stormy,

But Marc had a bright idea,

To build a platform for sales,

A place where businesses could thrive.

With Salesforce, he built a brand,

That’s now known across the land,

A leader in CRM technology,

A shining star in the industry.

Through hard work and dedication,

Marc and his team built a foundation,

For a company that’s truly great,

With a culture of giving back to the state.

With a mission to help others grow,

Salesforce continues to flourish and glow,

A shining example of what can be done,

When a dream is pursued with passion and fun.

But one thing to remember, irrespective of how intelligent the programs, they are useless with out proper guidance. So their effect will not great, but pretty much good only.
